Mahogany Colonial Revival Corner Cupboard (inventory # V-360) We have done a very small amount of touch up on the older restoration on this piece, but you can still see signs of the sun fading and evidence of an old break repaired on the crown. The felt lined flatware drawer was also inherited and covers up the fact that this drawer is hand dovetailed with a chamfered bottom as are the solid beautifully grained door panels in the lower cupboard door. The interior is closer to the original finish and still has the shaped shelves in the top that are indicative of a more thoughtful designer. Small details like the inset quarter-round columns, the carved acanthus leaf and molded swan neck arch on the top fit well with this piece. I appreciate the generous space between shelves in this cupboard- allows for good sized plates to be displayed and stored. The mullions in the upper doors are integral to the frames, not plywood cutouts. The piece separates into two pieces and that allows for much easier moving. The traditional style is easy to fit with formal or country interiors. We are having keys made to fit the old locks. Widest point on this piece is 44". Distance from the front face straight back to the corner is about 22". Though it does need a 28" corner to fit into. Size ................ 87"
Tall x 44" Wide
