Oak "Heinz" Desk
(inventory # SM-5)
This is a very nice example of an oak "Heinz" desk, perhaps
denoting the many elements that go into making up this piece. The
desk is topped by a pair of winged griffins holding up the central shaped
mirror. Two small drawers flank the dropped center on the top.
A full width fall board has appliqué carving on it and opens to
reveal a generous space inside complete with a full set of pigeon holes
and a pencil drawer. Below the desk is a double glass door bookcase
area. We have the key for the bookcase. At the bottom are two
more storage drawers reflecting the bowed treatment on the two top drawers.
All four feet are carved paw feet. Nice quartersawn grain on the
face of this piece.
